Q: Why are your lead times significantly less than your competitors?
A: We try to keep our steel in stock by placing large orders with steel distributors & directly with steel mills, while most armor companies only deal with steel mills to keep their profit margins high. Doing this allows us to keep products in stock while we wait on mill runs that typically take 3-5 months.

Q: What is the difference between Level IIIA, Level III, Level III+ and Level IV?
A: Level IIIA will stop most pistol calibers like 9mm, 40, 45, and 44 magnum. Level III will stop rifle ammo up to 7.62x51 (308) M80 Ball. Level III+ plates will stop everything our Level III will stop, plus the XM193 5.56 and will also stop 7.62x51 and higher velocities compared to Level III. Level IV is rated up to 30-06 AP ammunition.

Q: What is the difference between single curve, multi curve and triple curve?
A: The most armor companies use these terms to describe how the armor plate is bent. Single curved plates typically have one vertical plane bend in the middle of the plate. Our multi curved plates have multiple vertical bends throughout the plate to ensure a uniform bend throughout the entirety of the plate. Our triple curved plates feature two bends at 45 degrees on the bottom of the plate, and a bend across the horizontal plane where the plate sits on your torso. Please see the visual here.

Q: What size target do I need?
A: Our 1/4" AR400 Steel is designed to handle center fire handguns up to 45ACP. This steel is perfect for smaller handgun calibers like 9mm, 40 S&W and plinking with .22LR. Our 3/8" AR500 Steel is the most popular option because it handles rifle calibers up to 308. It's widely used for .223/5.56 and 7.62x39 as well as larger hand gun calibers like 44 mag and 50 S&W. Our 1/2" AR500 Steel is designed for larger rifle calibers such as 300 and 338.

Q: How far away do I have to set up the target?
A: Targets should be used at no closer than 10 yards. Please use proper eye and hearing protection. Do not use steel that has been deformed or damage. Buyer assumes all responsibility for use and the misuse of the purchased steel targets.

Q: Do I have to worry about ricochet?
A: We recommend that you set up the targets at at least a 20 degree angle. In general the bullets should not ricochet. This doesn’t mean they never will, just that most of the bullets will fragment and deflect at 20 degrees.
